Aren’t we taking a step backwards, while trying to move forward here? Sure, iZilla integrates DVD, CD, LCD display, iPod dock, speaker system, and other crazy features we dare not mention. But who wants to tote this thing around! Much less pay a whopping $799 for it. When I saw this, I didn’t know what to believe, my only thought was– "Is this an early April fools joke?" It was! Good one guys! Let the games begin. [Techeblog]

iNdie Nano Bands March 30, 2006
Indie goodies rock! I love posting about them because you can only find them for a brief moment on the Internet, and if you’re lucky enough to get one, you’ll be the only one on the block who owns one. Maybe it’s just me, but I love one of a kind stuff. Crafty ladies over at Gerbera Designs, came up with these unique iPod nano slipcases. Covers are mad with black fabric, foam padding and clear plastic casings. These ladies understand that sometimes we have trouble making up our mind, which is why the bands are completely reversible.

The Demise of Gadget Mags March 29, 2006
I’m a fan of gadget magazines, and I admit to occasionally buying Cargo, Sync, Wired, or any magazine that has gadgetry on the cover–but I’m afraid men don’t share my enthusiasm for these "gadget" mags. Cargo has announced that it will print it’s last issue in May after a two year run, and Sync is no longer being published. With so many websites/blogs about gadgets, who really needs a gadget magazine that mostly reiterates what you’ve already seen on the Internet. I’m sure most of you visit Gizmodo or Engadget to get your daily gizmo fix. There is a gadget magazine for women called CELifestyles, which is very informative, and has a lot of ‘how-to’ articles. But do any of you gals actually buy it? I do, but then again, it’s my duty to stay updated. Do think gadget mags are necessary?
MSI Solar Laptop March 28, 2006
According to Ubergizmo, MSI debuted a solar-powered laptop and MP3 player at CeBit 2006. Aside from running on solar power, these devices can also be powered by a lithium-ion battery or via an A/C adapter. PCWorld also has an article, citing that the company doesn’t plan to sell these products, and is just experimenting in ways to provide a portable solution for remote areas. The concept would be too expensive for mass production at this time.
"The lid of the laptop is covered with solar panels so that even when it’s closed, it’s still gathering the sun’s energy. The system needs a voltage converter to adapt the output of the solar cells to the laptop’s battery charging circuitry, says MSI."
Sony’s New Kid on the MP3 Block March 28, 2006
Rumor has it Sony will be releasing the NW-A002, NW-A003, NW-A005 MP3 players, replacing the exsisting E100/E300 series. In hopes to compete with the iPod market, the company plans to release all three players priced below the iPod Nano’s market price. They’re set to be released in 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB capacities, with an OLED screen, and no FM/AM radio. [Ubergizmo/Atraclife]
Sony’s new Hi-MD Walkman March 24, 2006
Sony has unveiled a new Hi-MD portable player and recorder with studio quality recording. The MZ-RH1 can store music in linear PCM format which enables recorded music to retain the same quality as the original. Other formats supported by the MZ-RH1 include MP3, ATRAC, ATRAC3, and ATRAC3plus. You can easily monitor the progress of your recording through the blacklit spectrum analyzer located on top of the player. The MZ-RH1 is compatible with both PC and Mac. I am not sure when it will be available in the U.S, but Japan and Europe have April & May as their release date respectively. [Release] Via Muzik and Pics
