uWink’s High-Tech Eatery October 18, 2006

Filed under: Miscellaneous — techiedivas @ 1:58 am

Uwink_1 Maybe you remember my post about a touchscreen table-top computer system installed throughout a campus cafe in Europe. The system allows patrons to place orders, play games, and interact with other users from a computer on their table. If you’re ever in the Los Angeles area, you might want to stop at uWink’s first restaurant in Woodland Hills, CA. Guys from the Feed were there to take on-the-scene pictures of this high-tech haven where anyone can place orders via a touch-screen system, as well as play short games against other tables. I love the idea, and can’t wait for more restaurants to adopt this system. You can visit uWink at 6100 Topanga Canyon Blvd, Woodland Hills, California.

Musical Rolling Robot October 17, 2006

Filed under: Music Players, Technology, iPod/iPhone — techiedivas @ 11:05 am

miuro_articleIntroducing, Muiro (which stands for music innovation based on utility robot technology…just rolls off the the tongue, doesn’t it?), the newest offering from ZMP, Inc. Muiro is basically a 14 inch long egg-shaped robot developed with Kenwood that rolls and twists around on your floor playing music wirelessly wherever you happend to be.

Launched in Japan this summer and due for general release later next year, Muiro the musical robot comes equipped with a camera and sensor that the robot uses to receive and respond to the owner’s wireless remote and to avoid bumping into furniture and the like. Apparently, this little super-robo-music-rolly thing also positions itself at the perfect distance for your listening pleasure.

Muiro will retail for around £500, is available in white, black, yellow and red (sorry, no pink), and allows you to attach your iPod or stream music wirelessy from you PC. Obviously, this sleek little gizmo is designed for those with some extra cash and without other organisms competing for floorspace (like small children or playful animals), but it’s still a very cool, if pricey, gadget.

Mac Addicts Shows Us Their Tats October 17, 2006

Filed under: Miscellaneous — techiedivas @ 1:19 am

Tattooapp_1 Sure we love our Macs and iPods, but just how far are you willing to go to let the world know? The Apple collection has a fun gallery of Mac Addicts showing us their Apple logo tats, some of them in places we’d rather never see again. What do you think? Is this trend waiting to happen, or the saddest public display of affection?

Another reminder, this time by the Dove campaign that nobody is perfect. Except maybe Brad Pitt. In my world anyway. Danah has more on the moral of the story here.

First 10 Megapixel Cellphone, Samsung October 16, 2006

Filed under: Cell Phones — techiedivas @ 8:35 pm

Samsung has released the first 10 megapixel phone for the Korean market.  We all knew it would happen, but had no idea who would be able to make it first and when it would be released.  You can probably grab one of these by ordering it over the internet but I’m unsure what services you could utilize it for after gaining ownership.

Samsung has made this model even slimmer than it’s previous release of a 7 megapixel phone, just recently.  Other options on the phone, the ability to have television display over satellite service.  I like this much better than the streaming options available today.

Modeled as the SCH-B600 includes a 3x to 5x digital zoom along with many features most Samsung phones already boast.  Also included is an auto-focus and auto-flash feature combination.  This phone has more megapixels than my digital camera…I’m jealous!

With a 2.2 in. LCD that supports 16 million colors, Samsung always has a bright and clear display on both phones and MP3 players that I’ve seen.  They expect the phone to run around $900 so if you can’t do without the features, start searching the net for some sellers.

Wall Mounted Aquarium October 16, 2006

Filed under: House Gear — techiedivas @ 1:29 pm

I love aquariums, but I can never find a good place to put one. That’s why the closest thing I have gotten to an aquarium is a gold fish in a tiny little fish bowl. Aussie Aquariums has introduced a line of aquariums that mount right to your wall. They are available in various shapes and sizes to fit anyone’s needs and the prices range from $250 to $1000. Installation looks easy enough, but if you live in Southern California, you can get it installed professionally. This is perfect for fish lovers who do not have enough floor space to keep a standard aquarium. &nbsp&nbsp[Gizmodo]

Looking Glam While You Cook October 16, 2006

Glamapron2How many of you cook? Kudos to you. I don’t cook much, but if I did, I’d totally get one of these super cool aprons. What does this have to do with gadgets you ask? Nothing. Except, how nice would you look wearing this apron while using your cooking gadgets? All shallowness aside, I found this via  Gadget Chick, and thought some of you might like them.

123423ww1Here’s another fertility watch, this one is FDA-approved, and will predict your ovulation five days in advance. The OV-Watch detects the level of chloride ion in sweat, then predicts ovulation based on the timing of the first peak. To commemorate National Infertility Awareness Week (October 23-30), they are offering a $50 off discount. Who knew there was whole week commemorating infertility? So if you can’t wait to get pregnant, head on over there, and get your OV-watch. And those of you don’t want to get pregnant, well, you might want to get an OV-watch too, and avoid sex during your peak hours, if you know what I mean.

Red Lipstick Light October 16, 2006

Filed under: Miscellaneous — techiedivas @ 4:16 am

K6418bThis is one of those gimmicky gadgets that will either come in real handy or frustrate you everytime you need to apply lipstick. The lipstick microlight is a mini-flashlight that will light up any dark space like the bottom of your handbag, when reading a book on an airplane, or at night when you’re afraid to go to sleep without a night light.
