Sony’s Slider HDTV February 28, 2006

Filed under: House Gear — techiedivas @ 12:47 am
Sony’s new HDTV is amazing. In audio-mode it looks like a speaker stand or a strange gadget rather than a HDTV. It’s front panel is sensitive to touch, therefore when touched the speaker grille slides down to reveal a sleek 32 inch HD ready LCD display. Extra features include a CD/DVD player, 2.1 stereo outputting 50w per channel, a 100w subwoofer and the speaker grille is interchangeable and can therefore be customized to fit your surroundings. Necktie Nano Holder

Tie Cool Hunting found this Thomas Pink "commuter tie" which actually holds an iPod Nano. The pink tie has a hidden pocket that holds the super light ipod, and even has an extra loop to keep your earphones from tangling.  Great idea, but it takes a very confident man to wear pink, so I hope they have them in other colors.  Guys, what do you think, would you buy this tie? Who didn’t love the Rubik’s Cube back in the 80s? I loved spending hours playing with it, until I mastered it, then I began competing against all my little friends. A new Touch and Play concept has been developed for the visually impaired that appeals to one’s sense of touch. The cube is made up of different materials that include metal, wood, textile, rubber, plastic and stone.  [Yanko Design] Rubik2Rubik3

No More Purse Fishing

Filed under: Fashion — techiedivas @ 1:28 am

LightpurI know you hate fishing through your purse at night for your keys, lipstick or even spare change for that street meter.  Fumble no more, thanks to some genious guy who invented the Black Hole Light. This LED light attaches to the inside of any purse, and shines a bright light inside as soon as the bag opens thanks to it’s magnetic sensor. It runs on a 3V battery, and costs around $16.00.  Product Page  [ohGizmo]

Public Alert Station

Filed under: House Gear — techiedivas @ 1:18 am

LgOregon Scientific’s Weather Station is a great idea for those of us who tend to be a bit disconnected from the weather channel. The Public Alert Radio will warn you in case of floods, evacuations, civil danger warnings, tornadoes or severe thunderstorms so you can protect your family at all times. Often times, I wonder how I would find out if there are any emergencies in my area say at 3am, when everyone is asleep and the TV is off. Disaster can strike at any time, which is why this gadget makes a lot of sense to me.  This particular version also has indoor/outdoor temperatures, barometric forecast and an alarm clock along with a docking station.   Product Page

Baby Crying Analyzer

Filed under: Gizmos — techiedivas @ 12:59 am

Babecry Ever wonder why the baby is crying? The WhyCry baby monitor will listen to the baby’s crying for 20 seconds, then the device will tell you whether the baby is bored, tired, hungry, stressed or annoyed. This will come in handy for first time parent, adoptive parents, nannies, and babysitters who are not always around the baby.

The unit works by analysing the baby’s crying power, frequencies of cry, intervals between crying, and associates the baby’s cry with an established pattern programmed into the unit. After a 20 second period of analysis it shows the result in a clear and precise way – by illuminating one of 5 simple facial expressions: Hunger, Boredom, Discomfort, Sleepiness and Stress.
