Filed under: Computers — techiedivas @ 3:01 pm

Cheatingonline With so much new technology emerging everyday, it was only a matter of time before schools began to accept it into their classrooms. After all, technology is a big part of a student’s life. When I was in high school, it was fairly uncommon to see students with cell phones or laptops on school grounds—even though these tools were readily available. Today, most kids in school have a cell phone, and the situation has gotten so out of control that schools are already moving towards banning them in the classroom. Besides being disruptive, cell phones and other technology are also being used to [gasp!] cheat .

Cheating is common among students—that’s no big secret; but when you hear about kids paying thousands of dollars to pass a test, well that’s when you know students are seriously under pressure. Desperate students in Vietnam, paid over $3,000 for an elaborate setup consisting of wigs and shirts wired to mobile phones that would allow them to cheat on their college entrance exams. According to ABC News, police also confiscated mobile phones, earphones, and SIM cards that were used to call in test questions and answers. [Read Story] Digg Story

Does anyone else think Google search is going down the tube? When I do a search for anything these days, I get alot of crap in the top searches. I was actually thinking about learning some tricks to refine my search terms, and I found this useful Cheat Sheet. Using the command "safesearch:" before your search term helps you exclude adult-oriented content. Or how about "date:" which lets you search for content within the past 3, 6 or 12 months? That should come in handy in searches. Go over the cheat sheet and find out how you can improve your search results. Any got any other tips?

Donny Doggie Webcam

Filed under: Computers — techiedivas @ 11:30 am

I love gadgets that are cute and functional. I saw the Donny Doggie USB Web Cam and wrist cushion and I was in love. This little fella can be used as a web cam and can capture images in VGA 640 x 480 resolution using a 350k CMOS sensor. When you are not taking candid shots of yourself surfing the internet, you can use Donny as a wrist cushion to help relieve the strain of constant computer use. I am all about multipurpose items, and with a price of $23, this cute guy will definitely have a home on my desktop.
